Wire Art

I've made a few things from wire in the past. Then a while back I found the blog, Sassy Trash. She creates so many wonderful things with wire and metal. I noticed that her vines and leaves are pretty much the same way I fashion mine...only she takes it so-ooooo much farther. I love her work! I had glued paper behind mine and sometimes used beads to add some color. Then I happened on this book by Jennifer Swift. She uses fabric and wire. I love her work also!! Her blog is Art As Usual. Since it is a how-to book, I felt free to use her ideas. Now I would not compare my work to the artwork of these ladies, but here is my latest creation...
I've been wanting to hang a sign in our guest bathroom saying, "birdbath". So I used a section of an old door, some scrapbooking stickers, and started wiring...
After looking at this photo I tweaked the bird's head a little. Now I'm itching to do some more!!

  1. That is adorable Angela! What gauge/kind of wire did you use?

  2. I love your wire art and your sweet little bird. Now you will be so inspired there will be no stopping you. Have fun. Diane

  3. I love your birdbath sign! Really cute idea for the bathroom door. You did such a lovely job with the wire bird hanger.

  4. I love your sign! It's so perfect with the wired bird!

  5. I love this SO SO much! I think you did an amazing job- the bird us one of the hardest designs. Thanks for the link! Btw- I just found sassy trash on etsy and thought she had adorable stuff. I'm excited to know she has a blog too! :)

  6. Your wire art looks really good to me I have never tried making anything out of wire. Thanks for sharing your paper doll story I just love the memories of ours. Hugs, Diane

  7. I think you are doing very well with wire.
Love the sign for the bathroom.
    Hugs, Evi

  8. That turned out wonderfully, Angela...so cute!

  9. Oh Angela, that is sooo cute! I think it's just as great as any you'd see made by "the pros". I really love your style.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today~ I loved your comment about the metal basket. I lovelovelove a story about anything old or vintage.
Your blog is so beautiful-- it had me at the header. Love it! I can't wait to visit again~

  10. Hey Angela! Well, I would certainly compare your beautiful work to those ladies. Your sign and sweet bird are fabulous. Just too cotton pickin' cute, (sorry, I just couldn't resist).

Thanks for leaving such incouraging words on my blog. You hit the nail on the head about feeling like a slacker. It seems I'm getting so little done and we're in the middle of repainting and things and the excitement in my head and heart have just given way to the pains in my foot, knee and hip. Uuuuggghhh. And I keep saying I'll do a little and quit earlier today and then I go just past that point and am miserable all night. But I'm learning. Thanks for just caring and also sharing.

Hugs and wishes for a happy weekend. Love...Tracy :)

  11. Wow... that looks amazing.. I must give that try!

Comments make me happy!!
