An Unpleasant Scare and a Very Pleasant Trip

I've been busy and not blogging.
First reason was my lymph nodes were all swollen and the oncologist thought my cancer had returned. I had Melanoma 6 years ago. So I was busy getting scans and going to doctors. Even when the PET/CT came back clear she assumed they were missing something and wanted a conference with the radiologist and a biopsy done. She also told me that there was a spot on the bone on the CT of my brain. But finally it was decided that the spot is not cancerous and there was nothing on the full body scan. Halle-lulu!!! Thank You, Lord!
Second reason was a nice visit in New Braunfels. That's always fun and relaxing. It was definitely HOT there though! Already 100 degrees with a very hot wind. Here are some photos of about half of the deer that show up when they feed them. There are several there all the time. This fellow was walking across their back porch and my brother said that he must be after our scorpions. WHAT??!! It seems they have found several lately, inside and out! Sure enough, there was one on the window screen that must have been the reason for the Road Runner's visit. I'm glad to report that we didn't see any others while we were there. Some people freak out over snakes or mice...for me it's scorpions!
This is what you see in the yard when you wake up in the morning. My sweetie said it reminded him of shoppers who camp out at stores to be the first in line for a sale. These deer want to be first in line to be fed.Meet Doris. She is the boldest. She will come right into the garage and doesn't mind eating out of the bucket. Right now she's eating for two or three.

  6. I am so glad to hear that you got a clean bill of health and the cancer hadn't returned! That must have been so hard waiting for all the results. Did they ever find out why the nodes were swollen?
Love all the deer! They can be so much fun! I love driving around here and watching them. You got some really great pics of them!

I'm glad your friends feed the deer, that's so special, I'm glad we have people like that in the world. We don't have road runners here, how neat to see one. Glad you're back blogging. Diane

  9. I'm so happy to hear your wonderful news; what a scare.
Your pictures are so sweet with the deer waiting for their food. I've never encountered a scorpion and hope I never will. For me, it's spiders...can't even look at them.

  12. Thank you so for your compliment and I'm glad you enjoyed my garden. I am glad to hear about your scare and I wish you a very long happy life.
What a wonderful site to wake up to in the morning, the dear not the scorpions, they would scare me too. Especially since I know my 4 year old would find one and say "can I keep it?" Have a wonderful weekend.

  16. So sorry you've had such a scare and glad the docs have checked you out good and given you a clean bill of health.

We just had a scorpion last night, just crawling into our bathroom. I quickly covered it with a glass and ran and got my husband to get rid of it. Just last week I'd been thinking I hadn't seen one in a couple years, darn it!
