Just back from paradise

...and I didn't spend all my time eating!! I could have. My sister-in-law is such a good cook! After a terrific Thanksgiving meal, these were the desserts I chose. There were more!! Along with the Pumpkin Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, and Pecan Bars...there was also French Silk Pie and Pumpkin Roll, but I didn't want to appear piggish!! LOL! Ginny and Doug definitely know how to use their gifts of hospitality. We always have a wonderful time there. It's not only the place to enjoy a great meal, but it's so relaxing. I love to go out on the backporch first thing in the morning. The birds are busy at the feeders and the deer are moving along their paths all around the fence...so pleasant.
Doug has his own special deer. He can recognize her face from the others. She'll even come into the garage while he's getting the food...she's the only one who will eat from the bucket and let him get so close. They started feeding and watering the deer last year when they were in a severe drought.
I took this photo from the front porch, and the lower one from the sidewalk. When the deer get curious and come too close to the dogs, they just bark and the deer scamper away! It amazes me.
We drove to Boerne on Saturday. That is such a fun place to shop! As it is getting dark, they close off the streets except to the horse-drawn carriages. Then they start the snow machines that are attached to the street light posts. The stores are beautifully decorated and full of treasures!!
Ginny bought this rusty metal tree with green glittered "branches"...so cool! After breakfast the next morning, she unwrapped the ornaments she got and we decorated it. What a nice way to start the Christmas season!!
Thanks, Doug and Ginny for another wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!!

  1. Long time no chat! I was just about to look you up to see what happened to you! I see you are still blogging away, but I have your link on my side bar and it hasn't been showing all your posts! I think I will delete you and add you again and see if that works.
I love the deer coming up in the yard like that! Looks like a great place to spend time and to eat well! That plate of yours looks so yummy!
