Weary of the Heat

I'm sure most of you are tired of hearing about it, but it is still so HOT in Texas. Thankfully, some near us have received a little rain. We haven't. We had 12 days in a row of triple digits in June. There have only been 2 days since July 2 that have not reached triple digits. The forecast shows those temps through August 31. This kind of weather is hard on man and beast!! Not to mention grass, trees, and flowers. I've seen so many dead trees...it's sad.
Pardon the quality, or rather lack of in this photo. It was through my dirty backdoor window. One of my little hummingbirds has made a habit of sitting in the shade of the back porch in the mornings and evenings. There are very few trees of size in this fairly new subdivision. I read somewhere that birds open their beaks to help cool themselves, I guess a little like dogs panting.
Stay cool if you live down here...enjoy the cool if you've got it. My prayers are with those on the East Coast for the next few days.

  1. I am so sorry you still have all that heat. We are bouncing back and forth, but most days are perfect temp wise. We got 2.3 inches of rain this week. Most of it went around us, but we are so happy with any at all. Been 4 weeks since the yard was mowed and doing it this week just to mow the weeds.
Needed Irene to track up the golf to bring moisture in from there for you and us.
Hopefully, she will stay out far enough that everyone is ok on the east coast, but it didn't look good this morning for them at all.
    Hope you get clouds soon.

  2. Hi Angela,
It's hot here, too - but heat is normal in August for us. It's humid and yukky, when usually we have a dry heat. I turned you on this morning so that I could listen to your music while I set up my classroom. School starts on Monday. Check out our school at Kingsschools.com
    Hugs, Patti

  3. We are still in summer here as well, although not as hot as you anymore. We still had several days in the upper 90's this week. But we have had several days of rain in the past two weeks and today is quite a bit cooler. (only in the 80's.) I wish I could send some cooler air and rain your way. Hurricane Irene will probably force some moisture in your direction. Although, sadly, it's going to flood those in it's direct path. My little girl just moved to FL and I hope she is OK.

  4. Live near Ft. Worth and I find myself praying for temps in the 90's. That just sounds so much better than what it has been. I'm ready for fall.

  5. We've had hot weather but nothing like that. I don't know how you keep going. I hope you at least get some cloudy weather, but I really hope you get some cool and rain. Blessing to you my friend, Diane

  6. It's pretty bad when the temps are still in the mid 90's after 11pm, isn't it. I'm so tired of the heat and we haven't had it as bad as you. I hate to hear about the upper east having too much rain but I sure would appreciate some of it here.

I'm so glad my bible post was useful to you. I think you'll really like the bible, I sure do.

    Hugs...Tracy :)
